sory. Domestic or Foreign indicates the country of origin of Advertising spots.

Spot Type Whilst the Traffic sub System is primarily designed to rotate advertising catalogue, it can also be used to schedule other types of audio spots. Whilst this field is compulsory it is a drop down menu and automatically set to "Advertising / Sponsorship" by default. Leaving it unchanged will give the field this value. Determining the type of spot affects whether it is included in later reports (for example those that search through advertising / sponsorship spots only). Otherwise it is simply an indication to the production department of the type of audio they are preparing.

The
Run Starts and Run Ends fields are not binding, however the values you supply in each affect later reports (for example those that concern spots not rotating past their start date). These are mainly indicators to production to give them some certainty of when the audio spot must be activated by, so that they can budget production time to the spots needed the soonest. By default the fields are set to the days date and need to be changed. Please note the date should be inputted in the American style MM-DD-YYYY.

Instructions to Production
is a compulsory field. You type in the exact details of the spot and how it should be prepared for the production department to read and prepare the audio. There is no size limit to this field, although being reasonably concise will be advantageous as the more verbose instructions are, the slower the program will re-load the information.

Audio Routing is a drop-down menu that describes to production the type of audio production required. You have three options: Generally you will produce the audio spot in-house with station voices; however a client may supply the advertisement finished on a CDR, in which case it only needs to be copies to the production computer (and tagged as sponsorship if you are a community station), or they may request that you get the production done by an external company at their expense. Regardless of whether the spot is produced in-house or externally the actual audio will have to be copied for local play out.

Input By This field can be left blank if you are adding a spot for the first time. The value is default set to "Initial Addition". Anytime it is updated however you will need to supply your name or company ID to indicate that you were the last person to access the record. This allows Sales to see who attended to the spot from Production and vice versa.

Transit comments is an open field. It is not compulsory. You can type anything in here to communicate across departments as the spot is added, produced and activated. When you first add a spot the default entry "<Todays Date> - Initial Addition" is added. This field might be used by production to indicate any small changes they made from the original instructions.

The Traffic Sub System allows you to plan out four weeks of traffic in advance. You now need to decide where you would like this spot placed in that month. You have a number of options:

Quarter Firstly you need to decide which part of any given hour you would like it to appear in, the 1st (top), 2nd, 3rd (bottom) or 4th quarter of the hour. You can only select one quarter for the spot, so if you wish to use an individual spot across all four quarters you will need to add new spot (s) with a slightly different name (s) (eg. Product 1- Quarter 2, Product 1-Quarter 2 etc.) but the same basic information, so that they can be placed in the other quarters.
